1 Dead in West Chicago Fire

One person was killed in a fire in West Chicago late Wednesday night, authorities said.

Three people were inside a home on West Grand Lake Boulevard when the flames broke out. One person was able to run out of the home while another was rescued by firefighters, officials said. The rescued person was transported to Central DuPage Hospital and was being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in unknown condition, said Patrick Tanner with the West Chicago Fire Protection District.

A third person died in the blaze, according to authorities. Their identity had not been released as of Thursday morning.

Investigators believe the fire started on a porch at the home and spread to the front of the house. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
