1 Dead, 3 Injured As Car Plunges into Retention Pond

A woman died and three others were injured after a car plunged into a retention pond in a western suburb Saturday night.

The vehicle was traveling down Interstate 88 around 7:30 p.m. when it took the exit ramp at Eola Road in Aurora and flew into the nearby retention pond, officials said.

20-year-old Emory Diaz Sepulveda, of Aurora, was killed in the accident, according to the DuPage County Coroner's Office. Divers recovered her body early Sunday morning, hours after the accident occured.

Divers also rescued three passengers who were taken area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities closed the Eola Road exit ramp for much of the night as police investigated.
