5 Charged with Skimming $1M from Charity Bingo

Those charged include two bingo game managers

Prosecutors have charged five people with skimming about $1 million from what were supposed to be bingo games for charity at an American Legion post near Fort Wayne.

Allen County court records say Indiana Gaming Commission investigators believe that at least $988,000 was illegally taken from the games at American Legion Post 330 in New Haven.

Those charged include two bingo game managers, a post trustee and two men who've been the post's finance officer. They face various felony charges, including unlawful charity gaming contracting and theft or aiding theft.

Post attorney Randy Fisher says it remains open but hasn't held bingo games since July when its charity gaming license expired.
