Wrestler Sues Over Staircase Collapse

There are several assumed risks in the world of professional wresting, but a collapsing staircase apparently isn't one of them.

In a lawsuit, professional wrestler Gregory Lee says he suffered "injuries of a personal, pecuniary and permanent nature" when stairs leading from the wresting ring "collapsed and/or otherwise failed, causing him to fall" during the "Legends Under the Stars" event at Toyota Park in Bridgeview over the summer.

Lee is suing Windy City Pro Wrestling and the Village of Bridgeview, claiming they were responsible for providing him "with a reasonably safe means of egress from the wrestling ring" because it took part in the construction of the stairs and catwalk leading out of the ring," and was also responsible for supervising and maintaining it.

"Legends Under the Stars" featured 10 wrestling matches, according to a release prior to the event, which featured an appearance by Hulk Hogan, who did not take part in any matches, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
