A doctor who owns a 3D ultrasound studio placed hidden recording devices in two locations inside the medical office, former employees allege.

Oak Park police say they're investigating the allegations against First Peek 3D/4D Ultrasound Studio, which were were made after former employees reported discovering hidden video and audio equipment last month.

The employees said they became suspicious after receiving emails from the owner of the business, Dr. Beezer Moolji.

In his messages, Moolji instructed the employees not to move "any furniture, decorative items, etc," because research had been done into "customer trends, office flow, colors and mood."

Around the same time, they say, Moolji brought in what he said were two air purifiers. The employees said they soon discovered the air purifiers were actually a gadget that can be bought by any amateur sleuth. It contained a hidden camera inside, they said.

Once they found a memory stick and saw that images of themselves and expectant mothers had been recorded, the former co-workers say they turned over a copy of the video to police.

With identities disguised at their request, two former employees of the business told NBCChicago they confronted Moolji, who then blamed "a prospective buyer" who he said installed the cameras in order to study why the office was losing money.

"I never believed that. Things were going great. We're seeing 24, 25 customers per day," one employee said.

Oak Park police confirm an ongoing investigation and say the department will work with the Cook County State's Attorney to determine if the

Illinois Eavesdropping law was violated by Moolji or anyone else in connection with this incident.

Repeated calls to Moolji and his attorney were not returned.
