One person is in custody after robbing a South Holland bank, being pursued by police and crashing into an oncoming recreational vehicle Thursday morning.

Police were on the phone with one of the suspects who robbed a South Holland First National Bank during the ensuing chase, authorities said.

Several shots were fired during the chase by both police officers and the robbers.  No serious injuries were reported.

It all came to an end on Route 394 at Sauk Trail, when the maroon-colored minivan, driven by the robbery suspect, crossed from the southbound to the northbound lanes on Route 394, hitting a Lansing police squad and eventually an RV.

"I'm just driving down, sitting here waiting on the light and we see the squad car block the intersection," 63-year-old Kenneth Berry, of Monee, Ill., the driver of the RV, told the Northwest Indiana Times.  "The van hit the squad car and then ran into my motorhome."

Berry was not injured.

Authorities continue to search the bank and surrounding areas for any explosive devices, FBI Special Agent Ross Rice told the newspaper.

Federal bank robbery charges are expected to be filed Friday.
