A second Hammond teen pleaded guilty Tuesday to murdering the parents of former CLTV talk show host Garrard McClendon.
The Post-Tribune reports that Reo Jonta Thompson, 18, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony murder on Tuesday in the abduction and shooting deaths of Hammond residents Milton McClendon, 78, and Ruby McClendon, 76.
Thompson, 18, admitted he and co-defendant Gregory Brooks Jr., 19, of Hammond, fatally shot the couple and left their bodies in a Cook County Forest Preserve after abducting them at gunpoint from their home one year ago Monday.
Last week, Brooks pleaded guilty in the case.
The bodies of McClendon's parents were found nearly a year ago by a woman walking in the Wentworth Woods Forest Preserve near Calumet City. They'd both been shot.
The couples' Cadillac was found abandoned on the Dan Ryan Expressway two days later. Witnesses said they saw two men running away from the car.
Garrard McClendon was let go from the Tribune Company, which owns CLTV, last month. Two detectives who worked on the McClendon case were later named "Officers of the Year" by Lake County, Ind., authorities.
Both teens face between 45 and 130 years in prison. Sentencing for Thompson has been scheduled for Nov. 18.
