UConn's President to Take Over U of I

Michael Hogan has been president of University of Connecticut since September 2007

University of Illinois trustee James Montgomery says the school will announce Wednesday that its new president is Michael Hogan, the current president of the University of Connecticut.

Montgomery said Tuesday he considers Hogan a fine choice to fill the position left vacant last year by the resignation of B. Joseph White.

Hogan has been president of Connecticut's seven-campus system since September 2007. The school has about 28,000 students.

According to his bio on UConn.edu, Hogan was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa and is a specialist in the history of American diplomacy, authoring end editing nine books and essays on the topic.

Hogan previously was executive vice president, provost and a history professor at the University of Iowa. He also chaired the history department and was a dean at Ohio State.

White resigned last year after an admissions scandal. Stanley Ikenberry has been interim president since then.

Hogan has a YouTube channel and a flickr photostream.
