Chicago police say that when a driver struck and killed a woman on the South Side Monday, it was no accident.

There was some kind of altercation in the 4100 block of South Wabash Avenue Monday evening, when one person got behind the wheel of a car and ran down 35-year-old Shaunte Sardin, investigators said.

She later died.

Police call it a homicide and say the vehicle is considered a deadly weapon.

A second woman was also struck by the vehicle and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in "serious" condition.

They are still investigating, and have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved.
