Woman Charged with Abandoning Baby in Wheaton
Baby boy still had some of umbilical cord attached

A woman has been charged for allegedly abandoning a newborn baby Friday morning in west suburban Wheaton, police said.
Nunu Sung, 24, of Wheaton, was charged with one count of endangering the health or life of a child and two counts of obstructing justice, according to a Wheaton police release.
Sung is currently in custody on a $50,000 arrest warrant and will appear in the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton at 8 a.m. Monday for a bond hearing, the release said.
Sung is accused of abandoning a newborn baby Friday morning.
The unclothed baby, who still had some of his umbilical cord attached, was found about 7:45 a.m. on the ground in a yard near a garage in the 800 block of East Michigan Street, Wheaton police Deputy Chief Thomas Meloni said.
The child was discovered by a husband and wife who heard their dog barking outside.
"The dog started barking and wouldn’t stop,” Meloni said. “And here she found a little baby by the garage. She wrapped him up in towels and called 911.”
The child was breathing when found and was “alive and doing well” at a local hospital, Meloni said. However, a Friday afternoon release said the newborn was in stable condition, but improving.
