Dog Adds to Eisenhower Traffic

A stray dog added extra drama to Wednesday morning's commute on the Ike

As if morning rush hour weren't bad enough, a stray dog made Wednesday's commute even worse.

A dog, identified as a pit bull by state police, was spotted on the Eisenhower Expressway Wednesday morning.

The pit bull darted in and out of traffic on the inbound construction lanes of the Eisenhower from 6:15 a.m. until about 6:40 a.m.

The dog exited at the 1st Avenue exit with no injuries and went for a swim in the Des Plaines River south of Roosevelt Road after its Eisenhower debut.

After a little doggy paddle in the river, the dog headed into the Miller Meadow North forest preserve east of Loyola University Hospital in Maywood.

The state police and Illinois Department of Transportation vehicles attempted to capture the pit bull but were unsuccessful.
