Nearly 70 dogs rescued from a puppy mill on the Southwest Side have been sent out to private shelters, where they're being evaluated before they'll be put up for adoption.
The dogs will be bathed and examined, and if they're healthy, they'll be available for adoption as early as this Friday, the Tribune reported.
Already, a mass of dog lovers descended on Chicago Animal Care and Control, which initially took custody of the dogs. But anyone wanting to adopt one will have to go elsewhere, through one of several area shelters.
If you want to adopt one of the animals, contact the Animal Welfare League, the Anti-Cruelty Society, PAWS, and the Hinsdale Humane Society.
