Police Investigate Link Between Nodarse and Daughter's Ex

Boyfriend was at a casino at the time of the murders

Police arrested their “prime suspect” in the killing of  Jeffrey, Lori and Michael Kramer Tuesday morning, but haven't charged him with murder.

Jacob Nodarse, 23, is sitting in a cell in Lehigh Acres, Florida where he was arrested after detectives tracked his cell phone signal from Illinois. He was found sleeping in a gray van outside his family’s house, barefoot and in full view of cameras.

Detectives are flying to Florida to question Nodarse about what appears to be a premeditated murder, according to the Daily Herald.

Nodarse isn’t alone in his incarceration. The 28-year old boyfriend of Angela Kramer, the surviving, 25-year old daughter of the slain family, is also being held in an Illinois jail.

Like Nodarse, he hasn’t been charged with a crime, but police are investigating a link between the two men.

The ex-boyfriend, who has been involved in a bitter custody dispute with Angela over their 13-month-old son, went to the police station voluntarily Tuesday morning with his lawyer.

Without being prompted the man blurted out his alibi. He said he had been gambling at a riverboat casino at 3 a.m. when the fatal shootings occurred. Darien police checked videotapes from the casino and the footage appears to verify his statement.

Meanwhile, a forensic pathologist conducted autopsies on all three victims from the home. He said none of the family members were shot at point-blank range and none had defensive wounds.

The killer appeared to have entered the home through a shattered front window, killed the family and escaped through the back of the house. A police dog followed a scent through the backyard but lost it near a street in the back.
