Thank you. Very much. That's what President-elect Barack Obama said to his top Illinois and national fundraisers Thursday night.

The future President and First Lady Michelle attended a reception at the private, swanky Standard Club with 100 of his top fundraisers on hand.

In the crowd, long-time Obama friends John Rogers, Bettylu Saltzman, James Crown, Penny Pritzker. It was a who's who of Illinois and national financial heavyweights.

“I could not have asked for better leadership,” Obama said of his finance committee leaders.

“I’m almost speechless here, which I don’t usually get, because this is really a tapestry of our lives," the President-elect said. "Many of you have been part of our children’s lives. Many of you have helped to support us, through thick and through thin. And so, I’m just very grateful to all of you."

“We didn’t just win, but we ran and won in the right way,” Obama said. "This is not goodbye. This is the start. This is not the end. This is the beginning.”
