Black Friday shoppers outside the Elston Avenue Target got more than they bargained for this morning when a mouse scurried through the early morning line.

Shoppers can be seen jumping on carts and screaming as the tiny creature scuttles away from the bright lights of the entrance.

The rodent incident didn’t stop these Black Friday shoppers from getting their hands on great deals, but the sheer volume of people did bog down the entrance.

Manager Lee Crum said it took 17 minutes to get everyone in the store when it opened at 5 am. People had lined up as early as 11 pm on Thursday night for a shot at some doorbuster deals.

Those that got them were ecstatic.

One shopper screamed out: "I got it, I got it" as she left the store with a 40-inch HDTV that she had bought for $449.

The scene was slightly less frenetic at Best Buy's Michigan Avenue location where people like Truman College student Eric Avila lined up as early as 6:30 p.m. Thursday to snag one of the doorbuster items. He managed to snag the object of his desire for less than $500 -- a Sony Vaio laptop that usually retails for more than $800.

"It was definitely worth it. I'm a poor college student, so you have to do what you can to save a few bucks," Avila said.

Best Buy handed out numbered tickets to the people in line at about 3:30 a.m. in order to cut down on the mad rush when the doors opened.
