At least one of the teens accused of killing Milton and Ruby McClendon has been assigned a court date.
Gregory Brooks will stand trial for murder, burglary, robbery and other charges in April, Magistrate Kathleen Sullivan said today.
Two Hammond, Indiana teens beleived to have been involved in the slaying were charged with murder, prosecutors said Thursday.
Nither Reo Jonta Thompson, 17, of the 900 block of Morris Street in Hammond, nor Brooks Jr., 18, of the 800 block of East Highland Street in Hammond, said anything during their preliminary hearing today.
Both are being held on $250,000 bond. They are facing up to 130 years in prison if they're convicted of all charges against them.
Those charges include murder, burglary, robbery, confinement and auto theft. They will stand trial in Hammond, Indiana.
The McClendons were found last week in a Chicago forest preserve.
Cops followed tips that led to the arrest of Thompson and Brooks after the pair were spotted fleeing the McClendon's 1997 Cadillac.
One of the teens was caught on surveillance cameras selling $70 worth of Ruby McClendon's jewelry to a pawn broker.
The teens will make a formal appearance in court on Friday, Oct. 30.
