Two local civil rights groups today said a popular Gold Coast bar should apologize for allegedly refusing entrance to six black college students because their pants were too baggy, says Chicago Breaking News.

White friends with similar clothing were admitted.

The two groups, the Chicago Urban League and the Anti-Defamation League, made their request in a letter to the owners of Original Mother's at 26 W. Division St.

"We strongly suggest that Mother's re-examine its dress code, conduct immediate retraining of all employees to avoid any future racial discrimination or appearance thereof, and issue a formal letter of apology to the six students who were denied entry," the letter read.

The bar owners said Friday they take the issue "very seriously" and would be conducting a "detailed investigation" into the events.

They also plan to contact the students.
