After weeks of deliberation, a Will County Judge decided Wednesday to grant a delay in the trial of suspected murderer Drew Peterson.
Circuit Judge Stephen White allowed the trial to be postponed until July 9.
The trial was slated to commence June 14, but Peterson’s attorney, Joel Brodsky, applied for a delay after the prosecution announced plans to call four expert witnesses to the stand.
Brodsky asked for the trial to begin August 23, but White was hesitant to suspend deliberations that long.
Peterson pled not guilty to first-degree murder charges in the death of former wife, Kathleen Savio. He has also denied any connection in his fourth wife’s, Stacy Peterson’s, disappearance.
