A former aide to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is dishing dirt on his boss, saying the governor usually spent workdays at home, spoke like a "street thug" and ordered aides to try to damage a legislative enemy's name.

Bob Arya worked for Blagojevich from 2006 until October. He wrote a nine-page letter to the House impeachment committee saying Balgojevich is "incapable and/or unwilling to perform the duties of governor."

The former Chicago TV journalist says Blagojevich often dealt with staff by speakerphone from home and his moods were unpredictable.

Arya says he warned Blagojevich against a campaign to discredit powerful House Speaker Michael Madigan. He says Blagojevich's liberal use of the state plane showed "unmitigated arrogance" and he was uninterested in clearing a backlog of clemency petitions or meeting with foreign dignitaries.

Arya says he asked for an investigation into using employees to collect press coverage of the governor.
