Bedbugs Hitch a Ride to Downtown Office Buildings

The blood-sucking bugs can thrive outside the bedroom

Once strictly a household nuisance, bedbugs have made their way out of the bedroom; infesting hotels, movie theatres, and now... even office buildings.

Employees at JP Morgan Chase found the bloody biters in a few cubicles in Chase Tower at 10 S. Dearborn St. two weeks ago, reports the Chicago Tribune.  And Chicago Public Schools treated all 20 floors of it's headquarters at 125 S. Clark Street after an employee there reported finding bites.

It turns out bedbugs don't need beds to thrive.  They can catch a ride to work on people's coats, clothing and hand bags, and live in office furniture or even files, and they can live for a full year on just one feeding.
