Malikah Little of Chicago was killed; Her husband and a friend both injured

Police have confirmed that a Lynwood municipal employee was under the influence when he drove the wrong way on a south suburban highway, killing one and injuring several others.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday near Ford Heights on Highway 294 near Lincoln Highway. The municipal employee was driving north in the southbound lanes and collided head-on with two vehicles, police say.

A Chicago mother of four, 32-year-old Malikah Little, was killed.  She was a passenger in a car driven by a friend, Angelina Johnson.  Little's husband, Manuel Little, was in another car following the pair and was also struck.

It's inclear how long the Lynwood employee was driving the wrong way on the highway, but the first 911 emergency call came two miles from the accident site.

Lynwood officials were mum on who the driver was or with which department they worked.

Police continue to investigate the wreck and charges are pending.
