A Chicago couple stood before a rabbi in a Highland Park synagogue last weekend to be married.
He wore a tux and a yarmulke, she a white gown and veil. Both Ilana Jackson and her betrothed, Jeremy Fierstien, also wore latex gloves and surgical masks.
No, it wasn't a planned part of the ceremony. The two had found out just 48 hours before the wedding that both had tested positive for swine flu, but decided to go ahead with the wedding after doctors assured them that their guests would not be at risk.
It wasn't exactly as they had planned it, but the pair had a good attitude about it and are sticking with the plan to live happily ever after.
