Win $5,000 for Your Green Idea

From fighting fires to designing underwear - one south side Chicagoan is in the running for the justdoone.org contest

In the overwhelming world of everything that is green--green canvas bags, green cars, green weddings; it's tough to know where to start!  How can you make a difference?  Justdoone.org, an online community for sustainable living, has some ideas - but they want more.  This is where you come in; if you have an idea, a personal green solution, enter and you could win $5,000.

That's what Christopher Anthony did.  A former fireman turned fashion designer, Anthony makes organic cotton underwear called Toasty Boys.  It wasn't his witty and warm undies that got him into the contest though...it was his one thing,"I figured everyone would be talking about recycling and carrying a canvas bag but to me your thoughts are way more... a million times more important than any action. So if you see the world you want to see it, some people say through rose colored glasses, but if you see it for being beautiful and perfection, it will be."

Anthony's You-Tube-style video is one of hundreds entered in the contest worldwide.  Three minutes or less to tell the world what you do to make this a better place to live--just one thing.  Videos can be submitted through April 1, 2009.
