"Holy eff-in bleep. Is this guy a governor or Lil Wayne?" Jon Stewart asked of Rod Blagojevich and the charges read against him.

It plays like a TV drama. It's so bizarre that it's hard to believe it's all true. But, above all, late-night comedians found the arrest of and charges against Gov. Rod Blagojevich to be ample fodder for humor.

Stephen Colbert offered his take on the news from "The Land of Stinkin'," saying, "Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is arrested on corruption charges. It's gonna take a huge bribe to get him out of this one."

David Letterman took certain pleasure in his term "Blagojeviching."

"It's one count of bribery, one count of fraud and one count of Blagojeviching," he said during his opening monologue.

Noting the number of bleeped-out words used by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in Tuesday's news conference, Jon Stewart said, "Holy eff-in bleep. Is this guy a governor or Lil Wayne?"  Watch the Comedy Channel's clip here.

Perhaps it's too soon, but as of Wednesday, political leaders in Illinois weren't laughing.

  • Zi Thursday, Dec 11 at 4:39 PM FLAG COMMENT I am not surprised what Blagojevich did. His father was a former Cetnik (performed etnic cleansing during WW II) from Serbia and then he immigrated to United States. Apple does not fall far from the tree. Need to say anything else?

You were raised by the same Daley political machine. We know all of you are dirty, dirty, dirty. Atleast Stroger Jr, is honest about being dirty up front.
  • Sandra Lewis Wednesday, Dec 10 at 7:34 PM FLAG COMMENT Maybe what they should also take a look at for "good material" are the actions of two Illinois agencies: The Illinois Department of Revenue and the Illinois Tollway Authority. "Blago" as the term is emulsifying, had nothing to do with the statutes that the Tollway Authority has stretched out of shape and the decision by the IDR to hire a private sector law firm to collect unpaid taxes owed by Illinois residents that is impos ... • Bill Wednesday, Dec 10 at 6:44 PM FLAG COMMENT OK, time to change the name of Chicago to Sh-tcago, and ILLinois suits it well. But the people keep voting this kind of scum into office. My money says Emil Jones is the next one to go. Stay tuned.
  • Loving it Wednesday, Dec 10 at 5:17 PM FLAG COMMENT This was clasic Jon Stewart last Night. The best line was "O.J. will be out of jail before this guy"
