Purdue Set To Launch MBA Program In Chicago

Purdue University is joining the Chicago community to transform its engineers and computer scientists into business leaders.

The university announced Monday that it will launch a weekend MBA program in Chicago's West Loop designed to help STEM professionals gain the skills necessary to launch a successful business. Students will learn what it takes to be a manager while specializing in a variety of subjects, including business analytics and global supply chain management.

Christopher Earley, Dean of Purdue's Krannert School of Management, called Chicago the new "silicon prairie" and said it will be a great opportunity for students to work in that environment.

"Through an integrated curriculum and experiential learning, peer-to-peer learning and a STEM industry context, we will transform individuals having technical backgrounds and work experience into global business leaders," he said.

The program will last 16 months, starting with a 10-day orientation at Purdue's West Lafayette campus in late summer. From there, students will meet every other weekend in Chicago to complete their courses.

Purdue's weekend MBA program will kick off in 2015.
