Despite reports to the contrary, Google has not purchased Chicago-based coupon site, and Internet behemoth, Groupon for $2.5 billion.

Earlier Monday Vator.tv's Faith Moreno reported that a rumored deal between the companies was complete. Google, however, shot down the news.

"We don't comment on rumor or speculation," said Google Media Spokesman, Aaron Zamost.

He also added that it prohibited him "to confirm/deny/or provide a time frame" of when we could expect any information confirming or invalidating the rumors.
