Coupon Use on Date No Longer Taboo

Once frowned upon, the coupon is received positively by 26 percent of daters during a first outing with a potential new beau

Flowers? Check. Movie? Check. Dinner? Check. Coupon?

That's right, the coupon is now making its way into the dating sphere, with nearly one-in-five adults using a coupon to pay the dinner bill, according to a recent survey conducted by Chicago online coupon retailer CouponCabin.com and Harris Interactive.

Once frowned upon, the coupon is received positively by 26 percent of daters during a first outing with a potential new beau. Also, 73 percent of respondents claim they would go on a second date with a coupon

The increase in coupon use on dates has a direct link to the state of the economy, said Coupon Cabin's President and Chief Savings Officer, Jackie Warrick.

"From online coupons to daily deal sites to coupons that print out for you at the cash register, coupons are just about everywhere," said Warrick in a statement. "It makes sense that more people are using them for dating during these challenging times."

Warrick warns consumer to gauge the situation for presenting your coupons. If you are not dating a fan of coupon use, Warrick advised downsizing the cost of the date.

The survey was conducted online from Sept. 29-Oct. 3 polling 2,852 U.S. adults 18 and older.
