Whiting Offers Soldier a Hero's Welcome

U.S. Army National Guard Spc. Daniel Acosta arrived home to Whiting on Monday to hundreds of cheering people. Acosta was injured last month while serving in Kabul, Afghanistan.

WHITING, Ind. -- Schoolchildren waved flags and carried handmade signs as U.S. Army National Guard Spc. Daniel Acosta cautiously stepped out of a stretch Hummer limousine in front of Whiting city hall.

As the Whiting High School band played, anxious friends and family members rushed to hug, shake hands and welcome home Acosta who was injured last month while serving in Kabul, Afghanistan.
