Thief Steals Statue with Woman's Ashes Inside

You'd think a memorial garden created to honor community leaders would be safe in the community they helped. But the folks at Howard Brown Health Center learned that's not always the case.
Over the weekend, someone stole a statue from the Peace Garden at Sheridan and Cuyler. That might not be such a big deal, except the statue contained the ashes of Mary York, a lesbian health advocate and community activist who died last year.
In a news relese, Howard Brown said its employees are "devastated" by the incident.
Howard Brown hopes that whoever stole the statue will just return it.
