A woman's body was found by a tow truck driver in an alley on Chicago's North Side early Monday.
A 16-year-old CPS student -- who was apparently targeted -- was killed and two men wounded during an early Thursday shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
Damier Love, 16, of the 4800 block of W. Hubbard St., was fatally shot at 5336 W. Chicago Ave., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A man in his early 20s opened fire on Love about 12:40 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks, who was citing preliminary information.
The teen suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and neck, police said. An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday, the medical examiner’s office said.
Two other men -- who are not believed to have been the intended target -- were also wounded. A 46-year-old man is in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hip and a 54-year-old man was treated and released from John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the left thigh, police said.
The gunman fled on foot after the shooting and is not in custody as of early Thursday, police said.
Love was a student at John Marshall Metropolitan High School at 3250 West Adams St., Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond said.
Love is among at least 34 CPS students killed this school year in gun violence.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
