The National Weather Service cancelled a tornado warning for parts of northenr and western suburbs.
The warning was in effect until 3 pm for DuPage County and northwestern Cook County until 3 p.m., but the agency cancelled it shortly before three o'clock.
A cold front is pushing through, sweeping away the rain and the mild temperatures.
Earlier thunderstorms hit the southwest and western suburbs that resulted in the t ornado warning, but no actual tornadoes were spotted.
