The Chicago teenager currently on trial for murder in Bali, Indonesia, is "ecstatic" to be a new mother, according to her Chicago-based attorney.
Heather Mack, 19, gave birth to a healthy baby girl via Caesarian section earlier this week at a hospital in Bali.
"She's just taking some time to enjoy herself and her privacy with the child," said attorney Anthony Scifo.
Scifo said due to a holiday in Indonesia, Mack will spend several more days in the hospital with her baby, Stella, before being sent back to the prison where she has spent much of her time in Bali.
Mack and Tommy Schaefer, 21, who is the father of the newborn, are charged with murdering Mack's mother in Bali last August. They are being tried separately.
The battered body of Sheila Von Wiese-Mack was found stuffed in a suitcase in the trunk of a taxi.
A series of chilling emails obtained by NBC 5 Investigates shows von Wiese-Mack's concerns about her daughter's actions and behavior in the weeks leading up to their trip to Bali.

The original recipient of von Wiese-Mack's emails, Elliot Jacobson, told NBC 5 Investigates there was a tone of desperation in the emails.
In one email sent from Bali several days before her murder, von Wiese-Mack wrote she was "more frightened than ever" after she said Heather fraudulently signed her name for prescription painkillers.
"When Heather testified that she loved her mother with all her heart, I don't think that quite characterizes her feelings toward her mom," Jacobson said.
Scifo said the emails are biased and are creating a spin.
"It's obvious that Heather and her mother had a very complex relationship," Scifo said. "One of the things that we noticed with the emails that were released is they were a little one-sided."
The murder trial in Bali may be wrapping up soon, according to Scifo. He said prosecutors could be offering a recommendation for a verdict next week.
Mack and Schaefer face a possible death penalty if convicted.
Mack has stated she would like baby Stella to stay in Bali. Scifo said a Good Samaritan is helping Mack obtain diapers and formula. He also said Schaefer's mother has been helping Mack take care of Stella in her hospital room.
