After gaining over 40 pounds, Oprah has pledged to make herself healthy and happy again.

If you resolved to lose weight this new year, you won't be alone. Oprah Winfrey is right there with you.

On Monday, Winfrey's daytime talk show launched its "Best Life Week," where she publicly addressed her life-long weight problems:

"It's not about the food. It's about using food—abusing food. Too much work. Not enough play. Not enough time to come down. Not enough time to really relax."

Winfrey has reportedly gained over 40 pounds over the last four years. Her adviser and fitness expert, Bob Greene, could see that her busy workdays were taking a toll on her health.

"I looked in her eyes and she wasn't there. She was very vacant and distracted," Greene said, the Sun-Times reports. "I felt she was losing her zest for life."

Winfrey, who has been diagnosed with a hormonal imbalance known as hypothyroidism, has pledged to devote more of her hectic schedule to her own well-being in 2009.

"When you love yourself enough, you take care of yourself. You have to make yourself a priority."

Don't get me wrong, I think Oprah is a great person, but does she constantly have to beat a dead horse with this weight issue? I am in my mid-twenties and for as long as I can remember, she has tried to keep weight off. We all know she will never be anything under a size 6, so she needs to stop obsessing and move on. She needs to focus on things she is g ... MORE >

No matter how many people she pays to cook for her, how many trainers she has or how many girddles (sp?) she buys. SHE IS FAT! Live with it! She obviously doesn't try eventhough she has everything at ther disposal. I think she is running out ... MORE >
  • hrgirl Tuesday, Jan 6 at 1:43 PM FLAG COMMENT You know, if I had all that she has, you better believe I would stay on track because I'm paying people to help me. BTW: I have a severe Thyroid problem just like Oprah. She made the claim that 2 weeks in Maui cured her--I went to Maui too, but I still have a severe Thyroid problem, She may want to consider taking the medication Synthroid to get the Thyroid under control, and stop making stupid comments. She should hire a ... MORE >
