Booze and Breast Cancer

A million woman can't be wrong.

That's how many women joined a study to find a link between alcohol beverages and cancer.  And the results are surprising.  Women who drank low or moderate amounts of alcohol still increased their lifetime risk of cancer by 13%, with the highest risk for breast cancer.

Women in the study normally had about one drink a day.  And each additional drink increased the risk of breast cancer, mouth cancer, throat cancer and liver cancer, according to the researchers at Oxford University in England.   This is the first study to show a connection between the amount of alcohol consumed, and the type of cancer that was affected.

The increased risks were the same, regardless of whether the women were drinking wine, beer or hard liquor.
