Wacka Flocka Urges Haters To Lay Off Chief Keef

Rapper says Keef a "product of his violent Chicago environment"

Jailed Chicago rapper Chief Keef is getting support from some of the biggest names in the hip hop industry.

Keef, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was sentenced to 60 days in juvenile detention Thursday for violating his probation by holding a gun during a video shoot.

The backlash on social media hasn't been kind to Keef, mainly because he cried in court when the sentence was handed down. Not exactly the image a hardcore rapper wants to project.

But rapper Waka Flocka Flame is calling out all the Keef haters, telling MTV.com that Keef if just a "production of his violent Chicago environment."

"That kid, he's from a neighborhood where being 21 is like getting a diploma," the rapper told MTV.

Flocka said he's talked to his young protege and plans to visit him.

"Instead of judging the kid and just bashing him down, why not reach an arm out and help him," Flocka said.

Keef was on probation for pointing a gun at police officers in 2011.

Over the past year, the rapper has managed to sign a major record deal and released a full-length CD in December, but he's also come under fire for joking on Twitter about the shooting death of an 18-year-old rival rapper, Joseph "Lil JoJo" Coleman.
