The Drake Hotel Offers Amnesty For Stolen Items

The Drake Hotel knows you probably took a towel or two. Or maybe a little more. So in preparation for its new history tour, the hotel is asking guests to return items -- no questions asked.

“In the last century, countless items from the historic landmark property have gone missing,” the hotel said in a release Tuesday.

Dubbed “Go Back in Time, Give Back the Crime,” The Drake’s amnesty program will accept any “souvenirs” for the next two months without guilt or suspicion, according to the hotel.

The items and the stories behind them will go on display when The Drake launches its official history tour this spring.

“Understanding that the hotel’s history is part of your history, The Drake Hotel is giving guests an official pardon with the launch of its amnesty program,” the release said.

Items will be accepted in person or by mail, at 140 East Walton Place, Chicago, IL 60611.

The hotel at Walton Place and Michigan Avenue first opened its doors on New Year’s Eve in 1920.
