First David Letterman is threatened with jihad, and now "Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson is mailed suspicious white powder.

Although the substance was later revealed to not be anthrax or any other harmful substance, the threatening letter still shook up Ferguson.

"Ack! Someone mailed my show white powder & claimed it was anthrax. I'm not a big fan of that sort of thing. #thanksFBI&LAPD&LAFD&CBSsecurity," wrote Ferguson on Twitter.

Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the matter is still very much under investigation.

"The Major Crimes unit is handling the investigation," Officer Rayner of LAPD told E! News. "The letter did contain some threats directed at Craig Ferguson. They will be working with the FBI and our counterparts in Europe to investigate the crime."

Ferguson joked about the incident during his show last night.

“Today someone sent, here, an envelope packed with white powder,” Ferguson said,”I said I’ll test it for you if you want. The police were like, ‘No, no.’ They did the test it so it’s not dangerous. Please, relax everyone, calm your real authentic panic. You have no excuse to leave.”

He later added: "I was going to come out and talk about the earthquake, but I can’t do that now. Because the earthquake only scared millions of people on the East Coast, but the white powder did something much worse — it scared me.”

David Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants, also produces "The Late Late Show," but so far authorities aren't making any direct connections between the threats made by alleged al-Quaida members online and the mailing.
