Ryan Phillippe Turns Robert Pattinson on “SNL”

Ke$ha joins Phillippe for two bizarre musical performances on the show

Ryan Phillippe's days as a brooding "Cruel Intentions" teen may be over, but he got a chance this week on "Saturday Night Live" to poke fun at the "Twilight" generation's version of the high-school bad boy.

Phillippe played "Twilight" vampire Robert Pattinson in a sketch during his hosting gig  on the NBC sketch comedy show, which also saw the 35-year-old Phillippe portray an '80s teenager, a broken-hearted lover and a member of an underground rock-rap crew.

The show also spotlighted newcomer Ke$ha, who performed two of her hit singles in bizarre fashion, donning costumes from an American flag-turned-cape to a full body suit of neon paint also smeared on her face and arms.

Phillippe, who will star in the upcoming film version of "SNL" hit sketch "MacGruber," opened the show with a monologue that featured other various "SNL" sketch mainstays, including Kenan Thompson's "What's Up With That?" host and the gift-giving character from "Dick in a Box," making a bid for their own film debut.

Phillippe's monologue followed a "Larry King" cold open, which starred Fred Armisen as the talk show host and Kristen Wiig as Bjork in a bit about the Icelandic volcano that struck earlier this week.

The next sketch to feature the "Crash" actor featured Phillippe as a member of the "Hip Hop Kids," a sketch about teens from the late '80s fighting evil -- this time, bears in a cave -- with hip-hop lyrics. Phillippe, the ex-husband of Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, played hip-hopper J-Style in the segment, which also featured Andy Samberg.

Phillippe and Samberg next teamed up for a digital short that starred Phillippe as a man whose girlfriend is seeing someone else and a blonde wig-wearing Samberg as the creepy "other guy."

The two continued to work alongside each other in a sketch about "Accountant to the Stars" Mort Feingold that saw a bevy of celebrity impersonations, including Ryan Phillippe's Robert Pattinson, sitting in Feingold (Samberg)'s office to discuss their finances. Phillippe put on a Pattinson-inspired British accent and donned a wig styled in the "Twilight" star's famous windswept 'do for the bit, which also featured Bobby Moynihan in drag as singer Susan Boyle.

"SNL" continued its tradition of commercial parody with a bit about the Shake Weight, which saw Andy Samberg, Kenan Thompson, Bobby Moynihan and others capitalize on the easy-dirty joke potential of the product and now-infamous viral video gem.

Phillippe also starred in the show in several other sketches, including a bit about parody music group "Thrilla Killa Klownz" and alongside Fred Armisen in a segment about the high-school help line TeenTalk.

Ke$ha's first appearance came halfway through the program and saw the singer, oft-compared to Lady Gaga, perform her hit single "Tik Tok" in an outfit that included an American flag fashioned into a cape. During the "Tik Tok" performance, Ke$ha's back-up dancers wore full-tilt astronaut gear, complete with helmets and silver jumpsuits.

The newcomer later topped herself on the bizarre scale with her second performance, a rendition of another of her hits, "Your Love is My Drug," which saw Ke$ha and crew wear neon paint from head to toe.

Next week's episode of "Saturday Night Live" will feature "Precious" star Gabourey Sidibe as host and MGMT as musical guest.
