Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel paid a tearful tribute to his uncle, Frank Potenza, who passed away two weeks ago at the age of 77

Two weeks ago, JImmy Kimmel's "Uncle Frank" Potenza passed away at the age of 77. Returning from a short break, the late night talk show host paid tribute to the family member who had become a recurring part of his program.

A teary-eyed Kimmel warned audiences that his usual snarky demeanor would not be able to hold up under the circumstances.

"Listen, I'm gonna try to do this without crying, but I'm probably gonna fail. But just turn away or something, because it's embarrassing. It really is," he said.

By the end of his introductory speech, Kimmel completely lost his composure as he thanked his crew for their love and support of Potenza.

"Uncle Frank loved being a part of this show. And I wanna say thanks to my coworkers who talked to him and visited him and picked him up 12 hours early for work. He loved you. And thanks to all of you who came to the show and watched, for indulging me and letting me put my crazy uncle on television," Kimmel said, barely able to finish the word "television."

Kimmel then presented a loving video tribute to Potenza set to Frank Sinatra's "My Way."
