Conan Gets Emmy Nomination, Leno Shut Out

Jay Leno did not wake up to a congratulatory Emmy nomination call on Thursday for his work on "The Tonight Show" – something former host Conan O'Brien was honored with, but Jay is keeping his sense of humor about not getting recognized.

"The good news is 'The Tonight Show' got four nominations. The bad news I didn't get one of them," Jay joked in his monologue on Thursday, after Conan's version of "The Tonight Show" was honored with a nomination for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy series along with nods for Directing, Writing and Art Direction.

"That's my motto, there's no 'me' in Emmy," Jay, who was nominated five years ago for an Emmy in the Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy series category, said.

Jay's late night counterpart, David Letterman, was also passed over this year by the Academy, something which gave the NBC host an idea come Emmy night.

"Dave Letterman didn't get nominated this year either," Jay continued. "I guess Dave and I are going to watch the Emmy's at Oprah's house this year."

Following his nomination, Conan Tweeted, "Congrats to my staff on 4 Emmy nominations. This bodes well for the future of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."

Will Conan walk away with a statue? Find out live at 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, at 5 PM PT on August 29 on NBC.
