ABC said an unknown substance in an envelope delivered to the ``Dancing With the Stars'' production office at CBS Studios in Los Angeles Friday was later determined to be talcum powder, according to The Associated Press.

ABC spokeswoman Amy Astley released a statement confirming that the envelope was delivered to the show's production office on the CBS Studios lot Friday night.

"Security and the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department were immediately notified," ABC said to E! News.

"Measures were taken to secure the area and ensure the safety of personnel. Ultimately we were advised by the LAFD that the substance was determined to be talcum powder."

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said hazardous materials  officials with the city of Los Angeles, LAPD and FBI also responded  to the scene on a report of a threatening letter containing white  powder. She said an initial screening indicated the substance was  not hazardous, but the letter will be transported to a regional lab  for further testing.

Eimiller said the FBI and LAPD are are looking into the matter.

People magazine reported that the FBI did not comment on whether the letter may have been targeted for contestant Bristol Palin, according to Internet speculation. Palin made it to the finals following her weak scores. The contestants were not rehearsing in the studio at the time.

The current season of "Dancing with the Stars" is nearing the end with the final three contestants: Palin, Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey.
