Rapper Kid Cudi is Arrested

Hip-hop artist Kid Cudi was arrested on Friday in New York and charged with criminal mischief and criminal possession of a controlled substance, The Associated Press reported.

Sgt. John Butorn of the New York City police announced the charges.

The rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, was slated to perform at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee at 3 a.m. "I really wanted to be here tonight," he said after he took the stage.

Known for his song “Day ‘N’ Nite,” Cudi released his debut album, “Man on the Moon: The End of the Day,” in 2009. He also plays Domingo Brown in the HBO comedy series “How to Make it in America.”

According to his bio on the show’s Web site, Cudi has been nominated for BET, MTV and Grammy awards. The rapper from Cleveland has also guested on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and appeared in fashion magazines including GQ and Glamour.
