Lily Allen and Boyfriend Expecting First Child

"Smile" singer says having children is her "main goal in life"

Lily Allen and Sam Cooper will soon be buying diapers.

The "Smile" singer broke the news to the British tabloid The Sun, which featured a photo of her on the front page with the headline: "Lily: I'm Preggers."

"It goes without saying we are both absolutely delighted," Allen, 25, told the paper. Later, she was prompted to tweet "not quite front page worthy but anyways ... surreal," along with a pic of herself holding a copy of the newspaper.

A rep for the British songstress and her boyfriend of a year confirmed that the couple is expecting to People magazine, but said Allen's busy schedule will remain intact.

"Lily's professional commitments will carry on as normal, including a scheduled performance at the Big Chill this weekend," the rep added.

The couple is beaming with news of the pregnancy.

Allen and Cooper, 32, owner of an upscale building company, have been dating since July 2009.

"Sam treats me differently. He's told me he'll look at me forever. That's what I've always wanted - someone to look after me," she said.

News of Allen's pregnancy comes 2 1/2 years after she revealed that she'd suffered a devastating miscarriage with then-boyfriend, Ed Simmons.

In May, Allen told Britain's Absolute Radio that having children "is ultimately my main goal in life and more of a priority than flying around the world jumping up and down on stage singing songs."
