Former Fugees singer Lauryn Hill’s song, “Repercussions,” which was recently leaked online, debuted at Number 94 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Billboard.com reported.
Lauryn Hill is making a return to music after a decade-long absence from the charts.
It was the first song by Hill as a solo artist to appear on the charts in over 10 years. Her last single as a lead vocalist was “Turn Your Lights Down Low,” which peaked at 49 in 1999.
Since the release of her mammoth 1998 album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” the singer has kept a very low profile. In an interview this past May with NPR, Hill explained why she hasn’t put out any new music.
"There were a number of different reasons," she said. "But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. In fact, as musicians and artists, it's important we have an environment — and I guess when I say environment, I really mean the [music] industry, that really nurtures these gifts.
Hill is going to also bring the music out live to her fans when she will be one of the performers at today’s Rock the Bells festival in San Bernardino, Calif., reported Rolling Stone. Joining her at the event will be Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One and Slick Rick.
