Julie Andrews to Stage U.K. Return

Legendary performer to perform single show in May

Julie Andrews is bringing the sound of her music to London’s O2 Arena.

On May 8, 2010, the legendary “Sound of Music” and “Mary Poppins” star will perform hits from her film and stage career in a one-off show, the BBC reported.

Andrews, 74, has mostly steered clear of performances since having throat surgery in 1997.

But last year the star sang four solo numbers in New York and is now “excited” to return to the U.K. stage for the first time in 30 years, according to the BBC.

"To perform once again in my homeland on the London stage will be a wonderful moment - it is where it all began for me,” she told the Corportation. "I am so excited to be able to share a brand new work with audiences."

The concerts will feature classic songs and newer works from the “Shrek” movies and “The Princess Diaries,” the BBC reported.

Five other performers and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will reportedly share the stage.
