Chicago 2016 Comes to Lollapalooza

Promoters name a stage after the city's Olympics bid team

So, while your out enjoying the city's No. 1 music festival in Grant Park next month, don't forget about the 2016 Games.

If you're having trouble making the connection between Lollapalooza and the Olympics, you'll be reminded when you get to the festival. There'll be a banner for the "Chicago 2016 Stage" proudly displayed during the three-day event, thanks to a major corporate underwriter.

A spokesman for Chicago 2016 said that the group isn't paying anything for its presence at Lollapalooza, according to the Sun-Times.

"It's a goodwill gesture" on the part of the festival's promoters, Austin, Texas-based C3 Presents, Patrick Sandusky said.

He added that C3 was also the executive producer of the gala dinner held for the International Olympic Committee when members were in town to review Chicago's Olympic bid.

Sandusky stressed that Chicago 2016 hasn't made any committment to any companies to be part of the 2016 Olympics, should the Games come to Chicago.  Such discussions would be "presumptive," he said.
