‘80s Pop Singers Debbie Gibson and Tiffany Renew Rivalry in New Movie

Having battled each other on the pop charts during the ‘80s, former teen singing stars Debbie Gibson and Tiffany will duke it out on the small screen.

The two singers will co-star in the Syfy original movie “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gibson will play an animal rights activist who rescues exotic snakes from pet stores and releases them into the Everglades where they grow into gigantic sizes; Tiffany plays a park ranger who helps endangered alligators.

Tiffany previously appeared in this year's movie “Mega Piranha” with Barry Williams (Greg from "The Brady Bunch"); Gibson co-starred in the film “Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus” with Lorenzo Lamas from 2009.

“Only in my dreams have I been able to have a catfight with Debbie Gibson … until now!” Tiffany said in a statement, as reported by The New York Times. “This is soo MEGA cool!”

"I know that pop culture fanatics have been dying for Tiffany and me to collaborate for the past 24 years!" said Gibson “What better way to do it than by battling each other in a campy romp through the Everglades?”

The Hollywood Reporter added that “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid” will be in production this month and will air in 2011.

Both singers achieved success on the singles charts in the ‘80s: Gibson with the hits “Only in My Dreams,” “Foolish Beat” and “Shake Your Love;” and Tiffany with “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Could’ve Been.”
