Gyllenhaal on Portman: “The Audrey Hepburn of Our Generation”

From Amidala to Audrey, things are looking pretty swell for Natalie Portman.

For one, she just accepted the Desert Palm Achievement award at the recent Palm Springs International Film Festival. For another, she’s experiencing a whirlwind romance with fiancé and “Black Swan” choreographer Benjamin Millepied and is expecting her first child.

To add to that list? One-time boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal has (mostly) nice things to say about the 29-year-old starlet. (The couple dated for a short time in 2006). “Natalie is the Audrey Hepburn of our generation,” Gyllenhaal told People at the festival. “She is elegant [and] graceful.” What more of a compliment could a girl want? “[She] has amazing eyebrows,” he continued, “…is talented, really short, funny, smart, dedicated, incredibly kind.”

Portman's next project is yet unknown, though she's apparently been hounded by that nagging question quite a few times.  "Everyone keeps asking what movie I'm doing next," Portman told the Sun-Times.  "Maybe you've heard.  I'm cooking a child."

Portman's next film to be released is a romantic comedy opposite Ashton Kutcher called "No Strings Attached," where Portman plays the ultimate friend-with-benefits.  She's also slated to be in the summer blockbuster "Thor."

But, just like Nina in “Black Swan,” everyone has their flaws, and Portman can hardly be excluded from a bit of scrutiny.

“She’s a vegan, which makes it really frustrating when you’re picking a place to eat,” Gyllenhaal joked at the film festival. As an afterthought, he added, “She’s also recently announced that she’s going to be a mom, and her child will probably need therapy after seeing “Black Swan.”

Whether or not Gyllenhaal will have equally nice things to say about his flaxen-haired ex Taylor Swift remains to be seen.
