Rapper Desiigner Arrested on Weapons, Drug Charges

He was allegedly involved in a dispute in the Lincoln Tunnel

    Rapper Desiigner and four other people were arrested in Manhattan Thursday night on drugs and weapons charges, police said.

    The artist - real name Sidney Royel Selby III - was picked up just after 9 p.m. near the Lincoln Tunnel on 42nd St.

    He faces one count each of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree and menacing, as well as two counts related to possession of a controlled substance.

    Media reports said the rapper was detained following a traffic dispute in the tunnel which allegedly involved the flashing of a weapon. Police reportedly found drugs in his car after he was stopped. 

    In May, the rapper hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with his single "Panda." He told Billboard at the time he was the victim of a shooting at age 14 and grew up in the Louis Armstrong Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
