Paul Walker's Original “Fast and the Furious” Car Up for Auction

Bidding is expected to be fast and furious (pun intended!) when this 1993 Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker in the original "Fast and the Furious" movie crosses the auction block next month.

Fans of the "Fast and Furious" franchise will recognize the Supra as the car driven by the late actor in the final scenes of 2001's "The Fast and the Furious," in which his character Brian races Dom (Vin Diesel) to a railroad crossing as a train bears down.

The 3.0L,5-speed, 220-horsepower Supra is fitted with twin nitrous oxide bottles, competition seats, roll cage, APR wing and stunt suspension. It's estimated to fetch between $150,000–$200,000 when Mecum Auction puts it up for grabs at the Indiana Fair Grounds in Indianapolis on May 16.

Like any movie involving car stunts, more than one version of the Supra was built, including a "hero" car for close-up scenes. Built for the movie by Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop in El Segundo, California, the Supra up for sale was featured throughout the movie including the final race scene, according to the auction house. The current owner was not disclosed by Mecum.

The "Fast and the Furious" series has gone on to become one of the highest grossing movie franchises in history. The seven films have amassed more than $3 billion in global sales, with "Furious 7" grossing over $1.1 billion at the global box office to date.

Walker was killed in November 2013 when the Porsche Carrera he was a passenger in crashed into a light pole. Walker appears in "Furious 7" but died during filming.

Mecum Auctions Indy 2015 event will run between May 12-17 and will be broadcast live on NBCSN.
